Climate Variability and Wildlife Conflict Amplify Poverty and Food Insecurity in East Africa

Using case studies of Eastern African countries, including South Sudan, this report examines the impact of climate crises and human-wildlife conflicts on household income and livelihoods. The report reveals that both these phenomena have fueled competition over scarce resources and caused crop destruction, resulting in worsening food insecurity and poverty among pastoralists and farmers. To address these multilayered factors, the report recommends integrated solutions focusing on adaptation, livelihood diversification, and better land-use planning to foster resilience and peaceful co-existence.
