Drawing on lessons from several peace agreements, including the 2018 R-ARCSS, this report explores the participation of women in previous and current peace agreements. The report found that despite women’s increased participation in shaping South Sudan’s Peace Agreement, their engagement remains largely limited due to the patriarchal norms and weak implementation of peace agreements. The report outlines suggestions on how women’s groups, CSOs, political actors and practitioners can leverage regional and international networks such as the WPS NAP and RAPs to foster meaningful engagement.
