This short article explores the vaccine hesitancy in South Sudan. Vaccine hesitancy (the refusal or delay in vaccine uptake despite its accessibility) has been a long-standing challenge in South Sudan and appears to be a barrier to the uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine. The article identifies a number of challenges for vaccine uptake in the worlds newest country and furthermore outlines the case of Angola, which has been a success in vaccine uptake and could thus serve as an example for learning.
