Using the case of the Pieri peace process in South Sudan, this report discusses challenges faced by international peace and localization efforts during community-led mediation processes. The report argues that strong local ownership has helped in the design and implementation of the Pieri peace initiative. The report provides suggestions on how local and international practitioners can help foster peace more effectively and legitimately.
