This book chapter, by Jaap Vuijk, examines a non-programmatic, grassroots approach to implementing the Triple Nexus in Pibor, South Sudan. The chapter found that communities engage in activities that link humanitarian, development, and peace objectives as a strategy to cope with their crises. The chapter provides insights into how humanitarian responses intersects with development and peace through the actions of local actors, and how international actors can learn from each other and from communities to foster the triple nexus approach and meet the needs of people.
