Using the case study of 19 women’s right organisations in three African countries, including South Sudan, this article assesses the funding challenges these organisations face and the related impact of flexible, long-term funding support. The paper provides practical steps for donors and international NGOs to design more inclusive and equitable funding approaches focusing on strengthening leadership and expertise among women’s right organisations.
